Walgreens and CVS pharmacist Walk-outs

October 30th, 2023
You may have recently seen news stories regarding pharmacist walk-outs at both Walgreens and CVS, and the potential for further work stoppages in the future at both of these companies, and potentially at other pharmacies as well. This could result in delays in filling new prescriptions and/or refills.

At this point, this walkout appears to be a much bigger threat to Walgreens and CVS patients, but this action could also impact other pharmacies. While we don’t expect widespread difficulties in filling prescriptions, it might be wise for members to fill their prescriptions early to avoid difficulties in getting needed medications.

Most PBM’s include grocery store and discount store pharmacies in their network. Also, Costco is a preferred provider for most PBMs, and patients do NOT need to be Costco members in order to use their pharmacies.

Please contact CCRx if there are questions, or if we may assist in any way.
